NOTES

  • EXTENDED HOLIDAYS
    • For extended holidays, public offices and banks may be opened, half-day service, or closed.
    • Extended holidays and especially those that falls on weekends causes “long weekends” where out-of-towns traffic culminates into major tourism objects.
  • RAMADHAN
    • Majority of Indonesians are Moslems, and the month of Ramadhan  (fasting) month starts 30 days prior to Idul Fitri day July 17, 2015. 
    • Ramadhan starts around June 17, 2015.
    • During the Ramadhan business is as usual except for opening and closing hours mostly adjusted 1 hour earlier.
    • Restaurants: are mostly closed during the day or only open starting around 18:00 PM (evenings). Nevertheless, big hotels and some restaurants and fastfood like McD or Kentucky FC are open as usual with closed curtain. Bali, where majority are Hindu Bali mostly open as usual.
    • Traffic: average 10 days prior to and after the Idul Fitri day, traffic culminates, worst -3 and +3 days. Regular plane, train, bus, ships tickets are mostly sold out.
